note: this album is pay what you want. in honor of the venues, musicians, and good people who were always so kind to us, we will be donating any and all proceeds from this album to charities supporting independent music.

we wrote some songs, we put out some singles, we played some shows, we made an album, and then—as often happens—life tugged at the threads and we unraveled. i moved to new york, thom's been bouncing around europe for a while now, and mikey is now some sort of electrical engineer, which is science far beyond my comprehension.

anyway, we made this record over a couple of months at a studio our friends had built inside pehrspace (our practice space, our stomping grounds, our home away from home) something like six years ago. looking back on it now i wish we'd put it out immediately, but for a bunch of reasons (none of which are clear to me anymore), we didn't. a few months ago, though, we were emailing each other and thought, hey, we may as well put it out now. it's not doing us any good just collecting digital dust.

it was always going to be called goodbye for now, but it may as well now be called hello at last. i don't know if people remember heathers, and i was always grateful for the fans we had, but i think this record serves as a testament to how we really were, how we really sounded, and what we were really trying to do. to my ears, this captures as close to our live energy as is possible on a record. so just listen to this, but picture a lot more yelling to a crowd of few and maybe too much wine. it's all shit i'll cherish forever. except for the time thom got deported at the UK border. that fucking sucked.

Slumberland is that friend who you don't see every week, and often forget to call, but when you see them, they buy you a shot of Fernet at the bar & tell you a funny story you forgot about, reminding you why you liked that person in the first place. Failed Flowers is that shot of Fernet, and that story rolled up into a night out at the bar. Punkish jangle pop with clever songwriting and a penchant for recalling every band I've ever heard on Slumberland, yet none that I can finger specifically. brantly
